Elevate’s ISOGARD HD cover board is a 12.7 mm thick, high-density, closed-cell
polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam core laminated on both sides to a mineral coated fiberglass
facer.
When foot traffic on the roof is heavy, mineral wool insulation runs the risk of being
crushed or, in the case of plastic foam insulation, the adhesion of the facer to the foam
can be affected. The ISOGARD HD cover board spreads the load and protects the
boards underneath. It combines impact resistance and ease of installation in a single
durable product. It is also an excellent choice for refurbishment projects, used as
recovery board over the existing roofing system.
ISOGARD HD can be applied over existing as well as new roof surfaces and under fully
adhered or mechanically attached single-ply roofing membranes.

Environmentally friendlyISOGARD HD is composed of mold-resistant material that does not support the growth of damage-causing fungi and bacteria. The board is manufactured with a 100% fiberglass, mold and moisture resistant facer and it contains more than 9% of post-consumer and post-industrial recycled combined content. The foam technology uses a HCFC-free blowing agent with a low GWP (Global Warming Potential) and zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential).

How does ISOGARD HD protect the roof build-up?
The high-density cover board spreads installation and maintenance loads over a wider area and provides added resistance to hail, dropped tools and other impacts. It also creates a stable surface above compatible insulation or an approved existing roof.
Can ISOGARD HD be used on refurbishment projects?
Yes, it can be used as a recovery board in technically suitable overlay systems. The existing waterproofing, insulation, deck, moisture condition, fastener pull-out resistance and fire build-up must be assessed before an overlay is specified.
What is its compressive strength?
Elevate states a compressive strength of more than 800 kPa, approximately five to six times that of a normal PIR insulation board. This improves impact and point-load resistance but does not replace structural support for plant, pavers or concentrated loads.
Why use a thin cover board rather than additional insulation?
A cover board is selected primarily to improve durability, surface stability and system performance, not simply to increase insulation thickness. Thermal targets should be met with the designed insulation layer, while the cover board performs its own protective role.
Can it be used with adhered and mechanically attached membranes?
ISOGARD HD can form part of approved adhered and mechanically attached roof systems. Adhesives, fasteners, plates, membrane compatibility and the complete tested or warranted assembly must be confirmed for the project.
