Features And Benefits
Superior durability
The RubberCover EPDM membrane has excellent resistance to UV, ozone, microorganisms and severe weather conditions. It can elongate over 300% to accommodate building movements and temperature fluctuations, retaining its physical properties over several decades. Additions like skylights or extensions can be integrated easily without affecting the system’s performance.
Easy installation
RubberCover EPDM is lightweight, flexible, easy to work with and allows a short installation time. It comes in large sheets which can cover most residential roofs in one piece without any field seaming. The rolls are easy to handle and store and there’s no need for special tools. Provided the structure is sound, RubberCover EPDM can be used on virtually any new or existing flat roof.
Flame-free
No flame is needed to install the RubberCover EPDM system. The membrane is simply adhered to the substrate using a contact adhesive. This cold application process thoroughly minimizes the risk of fire accidents.
Very low life-cycle cost
Once installed, RubberCover EPDM membranes require no or only little maintenance. Combined with the membrane’s inherent durability and competitive installed cost, this results in a very low life-cycle cost.
Environmentally friendly
Due to its exceptional durability, easy maintenance and suitability for recycling, RubberCover EPDM is one of the most eco-friendly roofing products on the market. Several third-party studies have proven that EPDM membranes have a lower environmental impact compared to other roofing membranes. RubberCover EPDM membrane is chemically inert and releases no toxic ingredients, making it suitable for the recuperation of rainwater for sanitary use. In addition, the system is compatible with extensive green roofs and photovoltaic systems, further contributing towards a sustainable environment. Frequently Asked Questions
What roof size is RubberCover intended for?
Elevate RubberCover is intended for residential flat roofs up to 150 m². Large sheet sizes allow many domestic roofs to be completed without a field seam, depending on the roof dimensions and the membrane sizes available.
Which membrane thickness should be selected?
QBM supplies RubberCover in standard and 1.5 mm grades. Elevate recommends the 1.5 mm membrane for green, solar, blue and accessible-roof applications, but the complete structure, protection, drainage and loading arrangements must also be designed.
Is RubberCover installed without a roofing torch?
Yes. The membrane is installed using compatible adhesives, primers, tapes and accessories rather than a roofing torch. Flame-free installation reduces hot-work risk, but normal controls for solvents, manual handling and work at height still apply.
Can RubberCover be used on an existing roof?
It may be suitable for refurbishment where the supporting structure and retained layers are dry, sound, secure and compatible. Wet insulation, loose coverings and defective decking must be repaired or removed, and a cover board may be required.
How long can RubberCover last?
Elevate states that properly formulated EPDM membranes have a life expectancy of more than 50 years when correctly designed, installed and maintained. This life-expectancy statement is not the same as a 50-year product warranty.
