Where is Giscolene F EPDM normally used?
Giscolene F is used to seal façade junctions, window and door perimeters, concealed areas behind cladding and selected cavity-wall or through-wall flashing details. The membrane, adhesive and termination method must be selected for the supporting material and exposure.
How does its elasticity help at façade junctions?
Elevate states that Giscolene F can elongate by more than 300%, allowing it to accommodate normal thermal and structural movement within the limits of the detail. Movement joints and large differential movements still require a properly designed joint arrangement.
What temperature range can Giscolene F resist?
Elevate publishes resistance to temperatures from approximately -45°C to 130°C. These are material-performance figures and do not remove the need to follow the stated installation temperatures for adhesives, primers and sealants.
Can Giscolene F be installed on different substrates?
It can be used with a range of common construction materials when installed with compatible Elevate accessories. Concrete, masonry, metals, frames and boards may require different cleaning, priming, adhesive and mechanical-termination arrangements.
Can Giscolene F contribute to airtightness?
Yes. When continuous and correctly connected to adjoining air-control layers, the membrane can form part of the building’s airtightness strategy. Airtightness performance depends on the complete junction design and workmanship, not the EPDM strip alone.
