Frequently Asked Questions
What is the ETORCH3 designed to do?
The ETORCH3 is an electrically powered roofing tool intended for controlled drying of suitable roof decks and selected heat-activation tasks. It must be operated within the manufacturer’s stated settings and the requirements of the roofing system being installed.
Can it be used with self-adhesive membranes?
It may be used to assist activation of approved self-adhesive products where the membrane manufacturer permits controlled heat activation. The correct setting, distance, speed and substrate condition must be confirmed before use.
Can it dry a wet roof deck?
It can assist in removing surface moisture from suitable substrates, but it does not confirm that insulation, screeds or the roof build-up are dry internally. Moisture testing and investigation may still be required before waterproofing is installed.
Can the ETORCH3 be used in cold weather?
Cold-weather use depends on the equipment operating limits and the minimum installation temperature of the roofing material. Heating a surface does not override restrictions relating to condensation, frost, adhesive storage or membrane temperature.
What should be checked before using the equipment?
Confirm the electrical supply, cable protection, machine condition, airflow and heat setting, substrate suitability and the roofing manufacturer’s instructions. Operators should also complete the required risk assessment and keep the equipment clear of combustible materials.
