Frequently Asked Questions

What does Polyroof mean by carbon neutral?

Polyroof states that the cradle-to-grave carbon emissions associated with Protec Evolve are offset using Verified Carbon Standard credits and independently certified by Carbon Footprint Ltd. This is an offsetting claim and should not be described as zero embodied carbon.

Why is the ultra-low-odour formulation useful?

The PeMA-based formulation is intended to reduce odour during installation, which can be beneficial on occupied or sensitive sites. Ventilation, product-safety information and site controls are still required.

What durability assessment does the system have?

Polyroof states that Protec Evolve is covered by BBA Certificate 09/4676 with an assessed durability of at least 30 years. The assessment is not the same as a 30-year guarantee; guarantee duration and coverage depend on the specification and approved-contractor terms.

Can Protec Evolve achieve BROOF(t4)?

Yes, specific tested or classified roof build-ups can achieve BROOF(t4). The classification must match the deck, insulation, carrier layer, application rate and surface finish proposed for the project.

Can it be applied over an existing roof?

It can be used over a range of suitable existing coverings, including selected bituminous, concrete, PVC and GRP substrates. The roof must be surveyed for moisture, adhesion, defects and compatibility, and primer requirements must be confirmed before application.
